Quick cartoon background of mormonism

The cartoon may look and sound silly, but everything in it is true! (according to mormonism, that is)

I know it has probably been a while since you have been to church but no, everything in this video is not true. Far from it. The biggest falsehood? That Joseph Smith claimed he had done more for mankind than anyone else, including Jesus.

The correct statement? John Taylor writing about the martyrdom of Joseph & Hyrum and others at Carthage Jail in D&C 135:3. He then says that "Joseph...has done more, SAVE JESUS ONLY, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it." obviously I added the emphasis.

Anyway, you seem a lot like me, always wanting facts. I thought you might want to know that. But, for liking facts I find it odd you posted this cartoon which could stand to be edited and corrected a bit.

If you "like facts" so much, perhaps you should try actually finding them, instead of just believing what they tell you in church.

Try reading "History of the Church," Vol. 6, pp. 408-409.

It's an LDS volume of work -- you should be able to find it from your bishop.

Or, if you don't want to go find the book, just look on BYU's website: http://byustudies.byu.edu/hc/hcpgs/hc.aspx.

It's Volume 6, Chapter 19, just over halfway down the chapter, in the section titled "Address of the Prophet—His Testimony Against the Dissenters at Nauvoo."

I'm not a liar.

EVERYTHING in the video is a true about mormonism. Even if they don't talk about it anymore.

Whoa whoa whoa. I think a white flag needs to be waved before I continue. You have obviously found offense when absolutely NONE was given. I did not call you a liar and I don't in the least think you ARE a liar. What I thought was that you were misinformed.

To address your response I DID try to find facts. Granted I only referenced the one from D&C but you obviously read my post.... I was completely exhausted and really did not have much energy.

I went to the website you referenced. I did not find anything that specifically addressed that but then again I was skimming because I have a lot going on today and have to run out the door shortly. What I did find was prefaced by the fact that it was written by his enemies, the ones that were trying to throw him in jail. I think that discredits everything that was written. I think we both know that at that time they were throwing him in jail for anything and everything. Innocent women were being raped for believing him and the whole LDS church as a whole was not being treated fairly. I hardly take anything they say to heart.

I don't care to continue the conversation through blogger but if you want you can email me. efymandi@yahoo. I would love to see the things you have. I have done some research but like you said I have never heard a lot of stuff in church. That leads me to believe that if they don't teach it they obviously don't want us to believe it. You are a teacher, would you ever hold your students accountable for something on a test that you yourself didn't teach or that wasn't in their textbook? Please don't hold the whole religion accountable for things that aren't actually being taught because then obviously, how can it be claimed we "believe" something that we have never heard of? Anyway, I think you are a great girl and this comment is entirely too long.

I loved the video and have told many people to watch it. Of course the video isn't true. You really think that God had sex with Mary and there are all planets to populate in the afterlife?

I think that mormonism (and all religions) is an abomination. It personally not only offends me but makes see how that the mere facts it still exists (including all the billions of profits it makes) shows me how little societal man has progressed in the last 2000 years.

It offends me because it is sexist, racist, homophobic, hypocritical, deceitful, and most of all anti-free thinker. I would even like to add that your anti-abortion stance and the encouragement of breeding like rabbits is also causing environmental damage and destroying our resources.

You can not be a mormon and be a logical person. Although the same is true for evangelicals too. You also can not be a "liberal mormon", "gay mormon", or "progressive mormon" as the two concepts are clearly incompatible. It is like being a black Klansman.

Your church (like all of the others) should be taxed.

Is a known fact that Smith was a charlatan and should have been jailed. Just like those purveyors of the Mountain Meadow Massacre.

My final point is that, I normally don't condone book burning, but we openly encourage our recovering mormonholic brothers and sisters to burn your Holy Books as cleansing rituals, and if you are as smart as you claim to be, I invite you to do the same.
